News Release City of Fernley Leslieann Hayden City Manager’s Office Voice (775) 784-9851 Fax (775) 784-9869 [EMAIL REDACTED] 9/17/08 www.cityoffernley.org FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE City of Fernley Receives Award of Financial Reporting Achievement Fernley, NV – September 16, 2008 – On September 5, 2008 the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) notified the City of Fernley that it has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by the City and its management. An Award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been awarded to the individual department designated by the City as primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR. This honor has been presented to the City of Fernley Finance Department, headed by City Treasurer, Bonnie Duke. The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the highest standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
