Residents, business leaders and community groups are encouraged to visit City Hall from 4pm to 7pm on Monday to learn more about City functions and services offered within the City. Information and educational materials will also be available from Lyon County Human Services, Lyon County School District, the Fernley Preservation Society, the Fernley Chamber of Commerce, and many more community organizations. The Lyon County Sesquicentennial Committee will be present displaying medallions recently minted to commemorate Lyon County’s 150th anniversary. Public safety personnel and equipment will be on site thanks to the Nevada Highway Patrol and North Lyon County Fire Protection District. United Blood Services’ Bloodmobile will be parked in front of City Hall for those wanting to donate blood from 3pm to 6pm the same day. Mayor LeRoy Goodman will be speaking in the Art and Lobby Gallery to past elected officials, dignitaries, community leaders, and residents at 6pm, which will be followed by cake service to celebrate the City’s 10th birthday. In March 2001, the citizens of Fernley elected a Mayor and five new City Council members, to jump-start the new City to be effective July 1, 2001. During the last ten years the City has worked diligently to continue Fernley’s commitment to excellent service to its residents, businesses and visitors.
