News Release City of Fernley Gary Bacock, City Manager Voice (775) 784-9851 Fax (775) 784-9839 [EMAIL REDACTED] 10/21/06 www.cityoffernley.org FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Mayor David Stix Announces College Internship Program Fernley, NV – October 20, 2006 – Mayor David Stix, Jr., is pleased to announce an internship opportunity for a Fernley college student to work with City Attorney’s Office. “This internship will be a unique opportunity for a Fernley college student,” said Mayor David Stix. “We appreciate our City Attorney’s Office partnership in providing the chance for a student interested in paralegal studies to get real hands-on experience in the field. We are excited that this pilot program will set the stage for additional college internships in other City departments.” This internship will provide students with real work experience in a law firm. King and Taggart Law Offices is proud to be playing a lead role in this internship program. “This internship provides a young person a chance to learn exactly how a law firm operates and what to expect before entering the workforce,” said City Attorney, Paul Taggart. This is a non-paid internship (a requirement of the college) that will begin in November and continue until approximately mid-January 2007. The City selected the intern based on a letter of interest, an agreement with the Career College of Northern Nevada and an interview with the intern.
