Designed to bring together educators, community-based organizations, faith-based leaders, parents and students an informative and interactive forum will be held to address what is being done to reduce, if not eliminate, the destructive trend of cyberbullying among teens and pre-teens. The event will be moderated by internet and mobile child safety advocate, Angel McGovern. Speakers include: Shelby Sheehan, News Channel Four Anchor, Mike Mieras, Washoe County School District School Police Chief, Shaencie Cossio, Fernley Director of Truckee Meadows Boys and Girls Club, Ray Fierro, Lyon County Commissioner, Rob Jacobson, Principal, Fernley Intermediate School, Robert Gleason, Farmer’s Insurance Agent, Cheryl Taylor-Dydo and Brenna Taylor. Interim City Manager Fred Turnier is pleased that Fernley was selected to host this forum. “Internet usage or “being connected” has become a daily part of the lives of many of our young residents, teaching them about potential dangers is very important.
