News Release City of Fernley Gary Bacock, City Manager Voice (775) 784-9851 Fax (775) 784-9839 [EMAIL REDACTED] 07/19/06 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Mayor Proclaims July 22, 2006 As Make A Wish Foundation Day in the City of Fernley Fernley, NV – July 19, 2006 - Fernley Mayor David Stix, Jr., declared Saturday July 22, 2006 as Make A Wish Foundation Day in Fernley. At the beginning of the City Council meeting, the Mayor invited Beau Hogan (Make A Wish Foundation’s 600 wish recipient) to begin the Council meeting by opening with the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Stix, Jr., presented the proclamation to Make A Wish Foundation of Northern Nevada Executive Director, Jim Parry. Upon receipt of the proclamation Mr. Parry thanked the City for their support. Beau Hogan then presented the Mayor and City Council with a PowerPoint presentation of his wish. The presentation was made completely by Beau who narrated the presentation of his wish which was to meet Green Bay Packers quarterback Bret Favre. Below is the wording of the proclamation: WHEREAS, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Nevada has been serving fourteen Nevada counties as the second Make-A-Wish affiliate in the nation since 1983; and WHEREAS, Make –A-Wish Foundation of Northern Nevada has been granting wishes to Nevada’s children with life-threatening medical conditions for 23 years; and WHEREAS, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Nevada has granted its 631st magical wish, bringing hope, strength and joy to Nevada’s children; and WHEREAS, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Nevada makes dreams come true for our children and families battling acute illnesses; and WHEREAS, the City of Fernley commends Jim Parry, Executive Director, and everyone associated with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Nevada for the inspiring and wonderful work that they do for our community. WHEREAS, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Nevada is inviting the people of Fernley to join them in celebration of granting 631 magical wishes at its Make-A-Wish Golf Tournament on Saturday, July 22, 2006, in Fernley; and WHEREAS, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Nevada has given countless hours of friendship to the citizens of the City of Fernley, NOW THEREFORE, I, DAVID STIX, JR., MAYOR OF THE CITY OF FERNLEY, do hereby proclaim July 22, 2006 as “MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION DAY” in the City of Fernley, Nevada.
