News Release City of Fernley Gary Bacock, City Manager Voice (775) 784-9851 Fax (775) 784-9839 [EMAIL REDACTED] 09/01/06 www.cityoffernley.org FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FERNLEY REMEMBERS 9/11 Fernley, NV – September 01, 2006 –The City of Fernley in partnership with our local safety forces will hold a 9/11 service of remembrance at Out of Town Park from 9:00 am – 11:00 am., on Monday September 11, 2006. The event will reflect the grieving process and will honor all American heroes, but especially our local public safety forces and our government employees, who daily serve to keep us safe. This will be the time and the place to celebrate the American Spirit and to contemplate. The program will start with a moment of silence at 9:11 am, after which City officials and safety forces from North Lyon County Fire Protection District, Fernley Volunteer Fire Department, Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, Fernley American Legion Gerald C. Daniel Post 37 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, as well as various military personnel will conduct a memorial vigil. The vigil will consist of the National Anthem, firefighter and police officer prayers, God Bless America, as well as the Pledge of Allegiance and the dedication of the City’s Memorial Wall. The Wall will recognize the Sons and Daughters that have given the ultimate sacrifice to our community and country. Interfaith community leaders will provide prayer. All are invited to attend.
