Guiding the Future Policy Committee November 14, 2013 ---PAGE BREAK--- What is the MTP? Long range planning document that is the framework for transportation decisions Identifies future projects for all modes to address future transportation problems and concerns Has a minimum 20 year planning horizon For MPOs in attainment, update is required every 5 years Cooperative effort among MPO, its entities, NMDOT, transit operator, interested parties, and the public 23 U.S.C. Section 134 ---PAGE BREAK--- The Basics Current MTP adopted in April 2010 (amended in 2011) 2040 MTP will be in conjunction with the update to the State’s long range plan Anticipate 18 months for development Target April 2015 for adoption of the 2040 MTP. ---PAGE BREAK--- 1.
