Lake, and see what furry felines, cuddly canines, or other cute critters are available that need to find their forever home. Farmington Animal Services will host an Adopt-A-Thon, from Tuesday, October 29, which is Adopt-A-Pet Day, through Tuesday, November 12. All animals will be $39.00 regardless of size, breed, or type. At the Farmington Animal Shelter, each cat and dog up for adoption, will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, micro-chipped, and treated with a flea and tick preventative. Settlement to City NOW – April, 2014 The Farmington Museum invites you to view an expansive display of historic and contemporary photography at this new exhibit. Farmington has changed dramatically over the years. Experience a slice of Farmington's past in comparison to what it is today. This unique exhibit uses both photography and historic objects to show the evolution of Farmington from small agricultural settlement to the bustling city of today. There will be a reception on Saturday, November 9, from 2:00 -4:00 p.m. While you browse the exhibit, enjoy the festivities that will be taking place for the Farmington Museum Foundation’s annual One Great Day of Shopping extravaganza event. A recently-discovered comet, Comet ISON, should be visible just before sunrise this morning. Astronomers think Comet ISON may be the comet which was last visible in 1608, when it was noted by Spanish explorers in the Southwest and other viewers around the world. Hope for clear weather, and come for the Nature Center’s first-ever Sunrise Walk to see it. Of course, in any weather, we will also see the animals which are active at sunrise, and perhaps even an owl. Come at 6:00 a.m. for coffee or hot chocolate before we start our walk of about 2 miles. Holiday Art Walk 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Friday, December 13 The Downtown art walks began with the Holiday Art Walk in 2007 and have since become a regular event anticipated by art lovers, artists, downtown galleries, and downtown merchants. The 2013 Holiday Art Walk will include many downtown locations featuring open houses and art receptions. Audubon Christmas Bird Count 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14 The Nature Center will be part of this nationwide project, which is an opportunity for volunteers to aid in scientific research which has been carried out for over 100 years. Spend part or all of the day with other birders counting all the birds, common or rare, abundant or scarce, in their wintering grounds here. The statistics are used nationwide to follow changes and trends in bird populations. The area of Berg and Animas Parks has been included for over 30 years. Prolific singer-songwriter Clint Black has long been heralded as one of Country music’s brightest stars. He has transcended genres to become one of the most successful artists in all the music industry. To date, Black has written, recorded, and released more than 100 songs. While it’s well-known that Black is an accomplished singer and guitarist, people will be surprised to learn that he’s also proficient on drums and harmonica.
