La Plata Street, Farmington, NM 87401 Meals Served: Monday – Friday 11:45am – 1:00 pm Suggested Donation $3.00 for anyone 60+ $6.00 for 59 and younger. February is Heart Health month and with spring weather on the way gives your heart a hand by getting your activity level up 3 times a week for 30 minutes if you are physically able. The activity is up to you and can be as simple as a walk around the block, taking your pet to the park or even getting up and dancing with a friend. There are several activities here at the center that you can take part in to get your heart rate up and your spirit moving as we offer classes on line dancing, Zumba and general exercise classes to help keep your heart rate up and a smile on your face. Check out our calendar for a list of all upcoming events. February 14th is our annual Valentine’s dinner and dance so grab your spouse, friends or significant other and head down for dinner, dancing and fun! Tips for Heart Healthy living: Eat a variety of fruits, vegetables and lean meats whenever possible. Take a daily multivitamin as recommended by your health care provider. See your healthcare provider at least twice a year. Try walking to destinations that are close by if you feel comfortable doing so The American Heart Association recommends that healthy adults try to walk 10,000 steps every day! Heart Health Awareness Presentation Wednesday, February 5th 10:00am – 11:00am Senior Activity Center Discuss ways to reduce the risk of developing heart disease by developing healthy eating habits that reduce the risk of onset by following simple basic tips; and Preventative measures and treatment options will be taught.
