Settlement to City NOW – April, 2014 The Farmington Museum invites you to view an expansive display of historic and contemporary photography at this new exhibit. Farmington has changed dramatically over the years. Experience a slice of Farmington's past in comparison to what it is today. This unique exhibit uses both photography and historic objects to show the evolution of Farmington from small agricultural settlement to the bustling city of today. The Farmington Museum is located at 3041 E. Main St. in Farmington, NM. Wetlands Winter NOW – February 28, 2014 Come to the Riverside Nature Center, in Animas Park off Browning Parkway, for this photography exhibit. Bald eagles, mule deer bucks, unusual ducks, and animal tracks in the snow are some of the special things to see in winter in our river parks. The Riverside Nature Center is exhibiting photos of winter scenes and wildlife from our collections through February, 2014. Most of these photographs are the work of local photographers, who have helped document the seasons in Animas Park. Call for Entries – 2014 Gateway to Imagination: A National Juried Art Competition NOW until March 15, 2014 Attention artists! Get your work prepared for entry into the 2014 Gateway to Imagination: A National Juried Art Competition. The show will take place at the Farmington Museum from May 10 - July 12, 2014. All media accepted, open to artists 18 years and older, artwork must have been completed after January 1, 2013. The show will award $2,750 in cash prizes. There is a $35 entry fee for a maximum of 2 digital files. The entry deadline is March 15, 2014 and the prospectus can be found online at www.farmingtonmuseum.org. Audubon Christmas Bird Count 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14 The Nature Center will be part of this nationwide project, which is an opportunity for volunteers to aid in scientific research which has been carried out for over 100 years. Spend part or all of the day with other birders counting all the birds, common or rare, abundant or scarce, in their wintering grounds here. The statistics are used nationwide to follow changes and trends in bird populations. The area of Berg and Animas Parks has been included for over 30 years. Find out what birds eat and how to attract them, and learn the common winter birds in this area. Watch and learn the birds outside the Nature Center as you work. Held at Orchard Plaza in Historic Downtown Farmington, this event will feature a 5K Reindeer Romp (chip timed) and a 2 Mile North Pole Stroll. Registration is $15.00 which includes a shirt. The 5k will start at 3:30 p.m., walkers will follow. Circus 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 13 After years of selling out venues on its national tour, Feet Don’t Fail Me Now continues its rise from an underground percussive dance phenomenon to one of the most popular tap shows since Tap Dogs.
