COMPREHENSIVE HOMELESS ASSISTANCE PROVIDERS C.H.A.P. Regular Meeting July 24, 2014 Sgt. Crum from the Farmington Police Department spoke regarding the Joint Intervintion Program (JIP). The most important factor is the lack of housing for the individuals in this program. They have applied to the CDBG to get help with housing. The individuals that are in the program are performing above what they had anticpated and more are following suit. They are stepping away from their personal habits and living a more productive life. There have been some members that have moved past the year mark of being somber. Thomas Goodluck stated that they have had a few of the JIP individuals also come through their programs and are set to graduate. He sees the JIP as an asset to the community. Jolene Schneider gave updated figures for the Four Winds Recovery program. They have had a 15% increase this year from last year. She went over the programs that they offer with focus on teaching them what is essential for living a good wholesome sober life and life and cooking skills. She gave an update regarding the Protective Custody Detox portion. They have been running at a deficient for many years and it is highly expensive to run this program. Because of the decrease in funding, Four Winds is going to be getting out the detox business, it is just a matter of time. Diana Ohlson gave an update on New Beginnings. She spoke about the gardening project they started. It is a combindation of therapy for the women in their program as well as provides food for the facility. They help women and children of domestic abuse rebuild their lifes from the ground up. Teaching them self esteem Arsencio Charleston stated that they would be having an open house on August 27th from 90 am to 4:00 pm
