Active Shooter for the business environment Active shooter incidents are becoming more frequent in our society. Knowing the possibility exists for a mass casualty incident and planning for it is important. An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confi ned and populated area. In most cases active shooters use fi rearms, demonstrate no pattern or method to select victims, and are unpredictable. These types of incidents evolve quickly but are usually over within 15 minutes. What you do before and during an active shooter incident may save your life and those within your business.
