P R E S S R E L E A S E FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 14, 2015 Contact: Sabina Popa, Everett Transit program manager, [PHONE REDACTED] Paratransit services in Snohomish County to create joint eligibility process EVERETT – There will be a briefing on a proposed interlocal agreement between Everett Transit and Community Transit at this week’s City Council on Wednesday, July 15. . The agreement will establish a single application process in Snohomish County for persons seeking to use either agency’s paratransit services. Currently, each agency conducts its own process, and customers may apply for services through the agency that serves their jurisdiction. “Everett Transit is committed to working with Community Transit to improve our customers’ experience,” said Tom Hingson, transportation services director for the City of Everett. This agreement is consistent with the recommendations made by the peer review consultation team that visited Everett Transit last December, and increases efficiency of operations for the agency. “Community Transit and Everett Transit have many paratransit customers in common. It’s good business to simplify their qualification process,” said Emmett Heath, Community Transit’s CEO. Under the agreement, all applications will be processed through Community Transit’s service provider, Senior Services of Snohomish County, which operates DART. An applicant qualified under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and approved for one system, will automatically be approved for the other. Everett City Council will take action on the agreement at a future meeting. For more information on the paratransit services mentioned, please visit www.dialaride.org and www.everetttransit.org.
