City of Everett Addressing Policy and Procedures Purpose To effectively assign and communicate road and building addresses for improved daily and emergency services with local authorities and jurisdictions within the City of Everett. Applicability The assignment and posting of a street name and suffix, building address, suite number or apartment number, including floor numbers in commercial buildings over three stories, is made by the City of Everett (COE) Public Works Department and Fire Department. • Roads: COE Public Works assigns and posts street names, including suffixes. • Driveways: Building addresses should be visible from the roadway entrance, or posted on directional signs by the owner, per the COE Fire Department. • Buildings: COE Public Works assigns one primary building address to a building or to multiple buildings in a residential development or office park. Secondary building letter addresses are also assigned by COE, including duplex, triplex and four-plexes. Other multifamily residences are assigned apartment numbers by the owner, as approved by the Fire Department. The owner posts all building addresses. • Floors, Suites and Apartments: Owner assigns and posts floor, suite, and apt. numbers in commercial buildings, as approved by the Fire Department. Procedures A City of Everett (COE) Addressing Letter commits new or revised building addresses and road names. The owner should work with the Post Office to locate mail delivery for new addressing. New Buildings or New Roads: Written requests for new road names, suffixes (St, Dr, Ave) and new building addresses should be submitted by e-mail, including a map to describe the location, to: [EMAIL REDACTED] or by calling the Permit Services Manager: [PHONE REDACTED]. Existing Buildings or Existing Roads: Requests to verify or resolve existing road names, suffixes, and existing building addresses should be submitted to [EMAIL REDACTED] on the attached ‘Address Verification Request’ form, including a map of the location. This form can be found on the COE Internet website in Permit Services, or on the COE Intranet Forms Center http://evgenapp006/Docs/default.aspx by scrolling down to Public Works, below Human Resources. Once selected for resolution, the request is researched and discussed to obtain agreement between the owner and COE Addressing Taskforce (COE-AT) by: Fire, Police, Building, Traffic, Public Works, Utility Billing, SnoCo E911, SNOPAC 911, and Postmaster, before it is issued in a COE address commitment letter. Note that parcel addresses can only be changed by request from the owner to the Snohomish County Assessor. Parcel owner and taxpayer mailing addresses can only be changed by request from the owner to the Snohomish County Treasurer. Authority Everett Municipal Code 13.44.130: City Engineer Ryan Sass, P. E.
