EL CERRITO POLICE DEPARTMENT TEST OF PHYSICAL STRENGHT AND AGILITY FOR POLICE OFFICER, RECRUIT AND RESERVE OFFICER GENERAL INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES The physical agility test consists of six parts to be performed on after the other, in an obstacle course fashion. The events are designed to test the physical characteristics of strength, agility and endurance associated with the physical tasks demanded of Police officers in the performance of their job. All phases must be performed and the entire test completed within two minutes. Candidates who are unable to 1) perform all of the individual events, 2) complete the whole test within the established time standard. As time permits, candidates will be allowed up to a total of three opportunities to successfully complete the entire test course. No extra credit is given for time less than two minutes, as this test is pass/fail. The physical agility test exercises are as follows: 1) 200 yard sprint: The candidate sprints a straight course and rounds a Traffic cone. Candidate then returns to the 2) 20 yard weave: run which consists of 4 traffic cones, 5 yards, that must not be knocked over. At the end of this run is a 3) 6’ wall which must be scaled. Dropping to the other side of the wall, the candidate then mounts a 4) Standard balance beam: (approximately 15’ long, 4” wide placed on the ground) and, without falling, walks the length, turns around, and walks the length again; dismounts and again scales the 5) 6’ wall: (same as and proceeds directly to the 6) 165 pound dummy which the candidate drags (using a Red Cross approved backwards drag) approximately 15 yards.
