AGENDA BILL Agenda Item No. 5(G) Date: February 5, 2013 To: El Cerrito City Council From: Janet Bilbas, Senior Services Supervisor Subject: Committee on Aging Membership Recommendation ACTION REQUESTED Approve a Committee on Aging recommendation appointing Ms. Joanna Kim-Selby to the Committee on Aging, effective February 6, 2013. BACKGROUND At the Committee on Aging's December 19, 2012 meeting, the Committee voted unanimously to recommend to the City Council that Ms. Joanna Kim-Selby be appointed to the Committee. Joanna Kim-Selby has been an El Cerrito resident for 32 years. She has previously served on the Committee on Aging. In 2011 she took time off to take over and revive the East Bay Korean - American Senior Service Center in Oakland, CA. Joanna has over 26 years of serving on numerous senior boards and commissions. She has twice attended the White House Conference on Aging for advocating or improving senior issues. Joanna currently serves as California Senior Legislator for Contra Costa County. She feels that with all her experiences in the field of Aging that she will be able to apply these skills to help improve and bring a variety of ideas on how to deal with sentor Issues. Joanna states that she has been engaged in promoting, advocating, improving and educating the seniors of their rights or self empowering for their living. She is looking forward to once ain work with the Committee on Aging.
