Ohlone Gardens is a beautifully designed affordable housing community located in El Cerrito, California. Developed by Resources for Community Development (RCD), Ohlone Gardens provides 57 affordable homes including 5 HOPWA units and 3 units designed for residents with mobility impairments. There are 5 units for MHSA-qualified applicants. Please note that applicants for the MHSA units will be direct referrals from Contra Costa County Behavioral Health Care Division and will not be included in the initial lottery for available units. Opening in July 2015, Ohlone Gardens offers 18 1-bedroom apartments, 21 2-bedroom apartments, and 18 3-bedroom apartments. This property will feature spacious and beautifully designed apartments with on-site laundry, balconies, assigned covered parking, and bicycle storage areas. The property will also have a community room with a kitchen, a fitness room, courtyard, and a computer learning center. Residents will have access to on-site support services such as educational workshops, youth activities and community gatherings (at no cost to residents). Ohlone Gardens’ design and construction incorporate sustainable green features and renewable technologies, including solar-assisted hot water, energy-efficient windows and appliances, low‐VOC paints and adhesives, and environmentally-preferable materials for interior finishes.
