October 20 & 21I 9 AM to 3 PM El Cerrito Recycling + Environmental Resource Center (7501 Schmidt Lane) El Cerrito’s Recycling + Environmental Resource Center Comes Full Circle Report Spills to Drains and Creeks! Help the City of El Cerrito protect water quality and our environment by keeping pollutants out of our waterways. Trash, oil, soaps, chemicals, and other pollutants on El Cerrito’s sidewalks and gutters can get flushed into storm drains, eventually ending up in our Creeks and San Francisco Bay. The only thing flowing into gutters and storm drains should be storm water – even water from a hose can be harmful to waterways! You can help keep our waterways clean and healthy by reporting any potential pollution on sidewalks, streets, gutters, and creeks by calling El Cerrito’s Stormwater Point of Contact at [EMAIL REDACTED] or 215-4369. For more information, see www.el-cerrito.org/maintenance. A fter a year of construction, El Cerrito’s long- standing recycling center was re-opened as the Recycling + Environmental Resource Center on Earth Day 2012. The Center is open for recycling every day of the week and is used by over 300 recyclers daily. It provides drop-off opportunities for likely the widest range of recyclable, reusable, and household hazardous wastes of any local facility in a very user- friendly environment. • All materials accepted at your curb Paper, cardboard, glass, plastics and metals. • Some household hazardous waste (HHW) Batteries, motor oil, medications, medical sharps, electronics, and fluorescent bulbs. • Reusable household items Clothes, toys, games, furniture, scrap fabric, tools, books, appliances, and more! • Reusable building supplies Dimensional lumber, fixtures, flooring, wood furniture, windows, hardware, and more! • Hard-to-recycle stuff Block “styrofoam”, used carpeting, milk and juice cartons, plate glass, bicycles, and more!
