Date: To: From: Subject: February 6, 2012 Special City Council Meeting 6:30p.m. Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council Cheryl Morse, City Clerk~ Commission Interviews FEBRUARY 6 INTERVIEW SCHEDULE Candidates listed below are scheduled for interview this evening: 6:30p.m. 6:45p.m. 7:00p.m. 7:15p.m. BACKGROUND Heidi Rand Luis Zavala Rick Murphy Deliberation [ ACC 1st and only] [ACC 1st and only] [CSC and FAB] The City Council will interview candidates for the Arts & Culture Commission and Financial Advisory Board this evening. Cristin Sethi, an additional Arts & Culture Commission candidate, will be scheduled for interview on February 21 or March 6. ARTS & CULTURE COMMISSION (ACC) There are two existing vacancies on this commission for terms ending January 1, 2013. Heidi Rand (ACC only), Luis Zavala (ACC only) and Cristin Sethi (ACC 1 5 \ TC 2nd, DRB 3rd) have submitted applications listing the ACC as their 1st choice. Ms. Rand and Mr. Zavala are scheduled for interviews tonight and Ms. Sethi will be scheduled for February 21 or March 6 depending upon the Council's availability. Dianne Brenner, interviewed on January 17, listed the Arts Commission as her first and only choice and Robert Abele, interviewed on January 3 and appointed to the HRC, listed the Arts and Culture Commission as his third choice (EQC 1 5 \ HRC 2nd). FINANCIAL ADVISORY BOARD (FAB) One vacancy exists on the F AB. Rick Murphy has submitted an application for the Financial Advisory Board and is scheduled for an interview tonight. Carla Hansen (PC 1st choice, ---PAGE BREAK--- Special City Council Meeting Commission Applicant Interviews FAB 2nd, and EDB 3rd) was interviewed on December 19 and appointed by the City Council to the Planning Commission on January 3. CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION (CSC) Rich Murphy submitted an application for this commission and the F AB; he is scheduled for interview tonight. There are currently no vacancies on the CSC. Michael Aaronian and Eric Luttrell's first term ended January 1, 2012 and both were reappointed January 17 filling the two vacancies on the Civil Service Commission. Kim Madia, interviewed on January 3 listed this Commission as his 1st and only choice. DESIGN REVIEW BOARD (DRB) There was one vacancy for the Design Review Board due to Gary Hill's second term expiration. Christophe Laverne was appointed December 19, 20 11 to the Design Review Board. Cristin Sethi (ACC 1st, TC 2nd, DRB 3rd) listed the DRB as her 3rd choice and is scheduled for an interview tonight. Other Vacancies and Status CITIZENS STREET OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE (CSOC) Council reappointed Aurelia Schultz on January 1 7 to this committee filling the last vacancy. Committee members Lynne Kessler and AI Miller completed their first term and were reappointed on January 3, 2012. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BOARD (EDB) The Economic Development Board has three vacancies. Carla Hansen, who listed the EDB as her third choice, was interviewed December 19 and appointed by the City Council to the Planning Commission on January 3. PARKS AND RECREATION (PRC) Seth Kaplan's first term expired on January 1, 2012. Mr. Kaplan was reappointed on January 17 to fill the single vacancy. He also listed the EQC as his 2nd choice. Michael Aaronian who was interviewed January 3 and appointed to the Civil Service Commission, listed the Parks Commission as his second choice (CSC 1st and CPC 3rd). Attachments: 1.
