City Seeks Input on Accessibility Improvements You are welcome to participate in the City’s ADA Advisory Group on: Monday, December 12, 2011 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM City Hall, Hillside Conference Room 10890 San Pablo Avenue In accordance with the City of El Cerrito’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan, adopted in September 2009, the City is convening an ADA Advisory Group to provide guidance in the planning, prioritization and coordination of accessibility-related improvements in the public rights-of-way. Participation in the ADA Advisory Group is open to anyone interested in or knowledgeable about accessibility issues. Meeting attendees will hear a brief staff presentation followed by the opportunity to help prioritize the following types of improvements: ¾ Installing curb ramps compliant with state and/or federal law; ¾ Providing accessible crosswalks, including audible pedestrian signals and accessible pedestrian controls; ¾ Removing obstacles in the pedestrian rights of way that narrow the pathway to less than 32 inches; and ¾ Removing abrupt changes in level caused by tree roots or deterioration along pedestrian rights of way.
