Administrative Clerk – Job Code 520 – http://www.el-cerrito.org/DocumentView.aspx?DID=1086 The City of El Cerrito Environmental Services Division Invites applications for the position of Environmental Services Intern Compensation: $17.31 - $21.04 (Part-Time, Temporary and Non-Benefited) Final Filing Date: Monday, August 13, 2012, 4:00 p.m. THE POSITION & PURPOSE: Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of duties as required, including: Customer service and staff support for the City’s recycling operations based at the El Cerrito Recycling Center – www.ecrecycling.org Customer service and staff support for the City’s environmental programs, also based at the El Cerrito Recycling Center – www.ecenvironment.org Special projects in recycling, sustainability and environmental services as assigned Assistance and support for special meetings and events The Intern is expected to learn and interpret regulations, policies and procedures, carry out oral and written directions, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, and to work effectively in a high-paced environment. Environmental Services Interns are hired into this part-time, temporary, non-benefited position for a minimum commitment of six months. The position is approximately 20 hours per week for a maximum of 950 hours per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30). Available hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with a preference for full shifts on Monday and Tuesday. Periodic evening and weekend hours also assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: All applicants must be at least 18 years of age at time of appointment; must be able to perform the essential job functions of the position; must have a California Class C Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record. Experience in the recycling and/or environmental fields is desired. The successful applicant must pass a background check, including fingerprinting.
