Join community volunteers from El Cerrito’s Green Teams and Friends of Five Creeaks for an event aimed at clearing broom from the Hillside Natural Area. Broom is an aggressive, invasive species that crowds out native plants, reducing diverse wildlife habitat. Broom Bash at the Hillside Natural Area! Details: Enjoy magnificent views as you remove invasive, fire-prone broom from El Cerrito’s beautiful Hillside Natural Area. Meet at the service-road gate opposite 7500 Schmidt Lane, east of Navellier and west of the El Cerrito Recycling Cen- ter. If you come late, follow the service road north, staying downhill, until you find the group. Tools, gloves, water, and snacks provided. Wear long pants and sleeves and closed- toed shoes with good traction; dress in layers for changing weather. There is poison oak in the area you can avoid it, but those who are extremely sensitive may want to skip this event. green community green community El Cerrito Environmental Quality Committee Presents: Saturday, January 21 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sign up to volunteer today!
