The project involves improvements to the road’s surface that promote a smooth and quite ride while maintaining the City’s investment in its transportation network. Through a public bid process, the City selected VSS International to complete the work. VSS International plans to complete the improvements in two phases. Please expect delays in and near the work zone from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. When VSS International will apply the chip seal over a two day period on April 23 and 24. All affected residents and businesses located within the work zone will receive a written notice 5 days before the work begins. The following week, on April 30 and May 1, the contractor will apply a slurry seal over the roadway. Please check back to this website for changes on work dates. These materials seal cracks and rejuvenate the existing asphalt pavement. While the contractor will periodically sweep the streets, there may be small rocks on the surface. Use caution while walking, driving, or bicycling through the work area. Step 2 – The following week, the contractor will return and apply a slurry over the road’s surface sealing in the small rocks. When complete, the street’s surface will be uniform and black in color. After a few days, the contractor will return and stripe lane lines and legends.
