Agenda Item No. 4(A)(2) RESOLUTION 2012-XX RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL CERRITO INDUCTING AMY SHINSAKO INTO THEEL CERRITO WALL OF FAME WHEREAS, Ms. Amy Shinsako is a retired teacher from Harding Elementary where she taught for 20 years and for the last seven years has volunteered daily as a reading teacher; and WHEREAS, Ms. Shinsako is a board member, volunteer and leader of the food committee at the Sakura Kai Senior Center for the last 3 0 years, her father was an original board member since 1973 and she and her mother have held active roles since; and WHEREAS, under the leadership of Ms. Shinsako, the Sakura Kai Senior Center has thrived; and J-Sei, a multi-generational and multi-cultural organization with its roots in Nikkei values and culture, has recognized her contributions as a board member, providing care and a~sistance to Seniors and Families; and , . WHEREAS, Ms. Shinsako was also the founding member ofDaruma No Gakko, one of the first Japanese cultural program for K-6 credits and the summer program is still going strong. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved, by the City Council of the City of El Cerrito, that it hereby inducts Amy Shinsako into the El Cerrito Wall of Fame in recognition of her significant contributions to the El Cerrito community.
