ABOUT THE PROGRAM The BART Earthquake Safety Program will upgrade the original BART system to ensure safety and the ability to return to operation shortly after a major earthquake. Priorities for strengthening work include BART’s Transbay Tube, elevated structures and many stations. Thank you for supporting BART’s efforts to protect this Bay Area asset. Continued Construction and Pedestrian Impacts Along the Ohlone Greenway April 2012 Dear Community Member: As part of our systemwide Earthquake Safety Program, BART is strengthening the elevated structures along the Ohlone Greenway. In general, work can occur between the hours of 7 am and 6 pm, Monday through Friday, with nighttime work as necessary. However, some areas will have limited hours of work as designated by the local jurisdiction. During construction, segments of the Ohlone Greenway will be closed to bicycles and pedestrians. Users of the Ohlone Greenway will need to access local city streets to detour around the closures. A map showing the Ohlone Greenway closures is on the reverse side of this notification. Vehicle traffic should not be affected. Below are the approximate construction start dates and locations of work. Please watch for suggested detours, and look for signs with safety information and other notices.
