Agenda Item No. 5(B) CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL CERRITO PROCLAMATION May 17-23, 2015 is National Public Works Week in the City of El Cerrito WHEREAS, 2015 marks the 55th annual National Public Works Week sponsored by the American Public Works Association; and WHEREAS, National Public Works Week is designed to educate communities on the importance of our public infrastructure and public works services; and WHEREAS, public works services are integral to the sustainability of our communities and to the health, safety, and well-being of people in all communities; and WHEREAS, public works personnel in the City of El Cerrito are involved in the planning, design, construction, operations and maintenance of storm drains, streets, transportation facilities, public buildings, parks, playfields, open space, creeks, paths, and recycling and solid waste programs; and WHEREAS, the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of public works infrastructure and services are vitally dependent upon the efforts, skills and dedication of public works personnel. NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of El Cerrito hereby proclaims May 17 through May 23, 2015 as “National Public Works Week” in the City of El Cerrito and encourages all residents and civic organizations to acquaint themselves with the issues involved in providing public works services and to recognize the contributions which public works personnel make every day to the City’s health, safety, comfort, and quality of life.
