October 29, 2019 EXECUTIVE ORDER - Modifying Burning Restrictions to STAGE II RESTRICTIONS Pursuant to the authority vested in me as the Sheriff of Elbert County, Colorado, by Ordinance No. 06-01, as amended by Amendment I to Ordinance No. 06-01, and Colorado Revised Statute 30- IO512, I, Timothy D. Norton, hereby issue this Executive Order pertaining to the declaration of the open fire and open burning restrictions. On or about October 29, 2019, the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office issued an Executive Order, modifying the burn restrictions to STAGE Il RESTRICTIONS. Based upon recommendations of local Fire Chiefs, it is determined that a decrease from STAGE III RESTRICTIONS to STAGE II RESTRICTIONS is warranted. STAGE II RESTRICTIONS shall prohibit the following activities: l. Open burning, excepting charcoal grill fires, fires in approved portable exterior fireplaces, and outdoor welding or hot work. 2. Outdoor smoking, excepting smoking within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials. 3. The sale or use of fireworks. 4. Use of educational rockets. The STAGE Il RESTRICTIONS shall take effect immediately upon the issuance of this Executive Order. The STAGE Il RESTRICTIONS shall remain in effect until such time the restrictions are modified by either the Elbert County Sheriff or by the Board of County Commissioner of Elbert County pursuant to Ordinance No. 06-01, as amended.
