City of Eagle 660 E Civic Lane PO Box 1520 Eagle, Idaho 83616 Swimming Pool in a Special Flood Hazard Area To construct a swimming pool in a Special Flood Hazard Area (100 year Floodplain), all the below requirements must be met. • The City of Eagle requires a ‘Flood Plain Development Permit’. • The following information shall be submitted: o Submit a ‘Flood Plain Development Permit’ Application ($250.00 application fee) o Provide a site plan showing location of the pool, adjacent elevations and areas where the material removed for construction of the pool will be placed. (The material removed from the area where the pool is to be located may be allowed to remain on the site pursuant to the approved site plan. No additional fill shall be brought onto the site.) o Pool must be constructed at grade or elevated so that the lowest horizontal structural member supporting the pool (deck) is at or above the Base Flood Elevation (BFE) and the pool is flush with the natural grade of the site. o Must provide written documentation, stamped by a registered design professional, certifying that the pool will have structural components capable of resisting hydrostatic and hydrodynamic loads and effects of buoyancy (will not be subject to breaking up or floating out of the ground). o To offset hydrostatic forces during a flood event a hydrostatic relief valve shall be installed at the time of construction of the pool. o All mechanical equipment servicing the pool must be elevated to or above the BFE. o Structural enclosure of the pool area and/or associated barriers must meet the Requirements of Eagle City Code Title 10. • Once the ‘Floodplain Development Permit’ is approved, a Building Permit is required prior to beginning construction. o Pool must comply with all Building, IECC and Safety Codes • Upon completion of the project, the applicant shall provide an Elevation Certificate indicating the elevations of the top of the pool and associated mechanical equipment.
