Chapter 5.02, Page 3 #5.02 SPEED ZONE ORDINANCE FOR COUNTY TRUNK HIGHWAYS THE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF DOUGLAS DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. SPEED LIMIT/LOCATION A traffic and engineering investigation having been made on the following described highways, the maximum permissible speed at which vehicles may be operated on said highways, which speed is herewith established as reasonable and safe pursuant to Section 349.11, Wisconsin Statutes, shall be as set forth herein: County Trunk Highway Town of Summit, Douglas County: Forty-five miles per hour from its intersection with Milchesky Road to a point 0.25 miles north of its intersection with Tri-Lakes Road. County Trunk Highway Town of Solon Springs, Douglas County: Thirty-five miles per hour from a point 0.33 miles east of its intersection with East Heyer Road to its junction with County Trunk Highway County Trunk Highway Village of Solon Springs, Douglas County: Thirty-five miles per hour from its intersection with Ellen Smith Road to its junction with United States Highway “53”; Thirty-five miles per hour from its intersection with Business Highway 53 to its junction with United States Highway “53”; and Thirty-five miles per hour from its intersection with Main Street running easterly .9 miles to the intersection of Balsam and Ash Streets. County Trunk Highway Town of Superior, Douglas County: Forty-five miles per hour from a point 0.2 miles west of Meierotto Road to its junction with State Trunk Highway “35”; ---PAGE BREAK--- Chapter 5.02, Page 4 Forty-five miles per hour from its intersection with Leggate Road to a point east 0.33 miles of said intersection. Including a “School Zone” from its intersection with Leggate Road to a point 1,100 feet east of said intersection; and Forty-five miles per hour from its junction with State Trunk Highway “35” to a point 0.09 miles west of its intersection with Preston Road. County Trunk Highway Town of Oakland, Douglas County: Fifty-five miles per hour from its intersection with County Trunk Highway to its intersection with County Trunk Highway County Trunk Highway Town of Hawthorne, Douglas County: Thirty-five miles per hour from a point 0.09 miles west of Wisconsin Avenue to its intersection with Pine Road. County Trunk Highways and Village of Lake Nebagamon, Douglas County: Forty-five miles per hour beginning 0.3 miles west and north of the easterly intersection of County Trunk Highways and going easterly and southerly for 0.3 miles along County Trunk Highway and continuing onto County Trunk Highway for 0.52 miles; Thirty-five miles per hour beginning at that point to 0.4 miles east of County Trunk Highway and Forty-five miles per hour beginning at that point 0.2 miles east of County Trunk Highway County Trunk Highway Town of Parkland, Douglas County: Thirty-five miles per hour from its intersection with County Trunk Highway to a point 0.4 miles east of said intersection. County Trunk Highway Village of Poplar, Douglas County: Thirty-five miles per hour from its intersection with United States Highway to a point 0.47 miles north of said intersection; and ---PAGE BREAK--- Chapter 5.02, Page 5 Thirty-five miles per hour from its intersection with United States Highway to a point 0.26 miles south of its intersection with Elm Road. (10) County Trunk Highway Town of Parkland/Amnicon, Douglas County: Forty-five miles per hour from its intersection with City Limits Road to a point 0.75 miles north of its intersection with Bayfield Road. (11) County Trunk Highway City of Superior, Douglas County: Thirty-five miles per hour from its intersection with City Limits Road to its junction with United States Highway and “53”. Including a “School Zone” from its intersection with City Limits Road to a point 1,320 feet north of said intersection. (12) County Trunk Highway Town of Maple, Douglas County: Thirty-five miles per hour from its intersection with United States Highway to a point 0.12 miles north of its intersection with Gronschorek Loop; Thirty-five miles per hour beginning at the center point of U.S. Highway 2 going southerly for 0.8 miles; and Forty-five miles per hour beginning at that point to 0.2 additional miles south of U.S. Highway 2. (13) County Trunk Highway Village of Lake Nebagamon, Douglas County: Thirty-five miles per hour from its intersection with County Trunk Highway to a point 0.04 miles north of its intersection with Woodland Trail. (14) County Trunk Highway Town of Gordon, Douglas County: Forty-five miles per hour from its intersection with County Trunk Highway to its intersection with Antoine Circle. (15) County Trunk Highway Town of Brule, Douglas County: Thirty-five miles per hour from its intersection with United States Highway to a point 0.15 miles north of its intersection with 3rd Avenue. ---PAGE BREAK--- Chapter 5.02, Page 6 (16) County Trunk Highway Town of Parkland, Douglas County: Forty-five miles per hour from a point 0.2 miles south of its intersection with County Trunk Highway East, north to its intersection with Ontario Street; and (17) County Trunk Highway Town of Bennett, Douglas County: Thirty-five miles per hour from its intersection with East Minnesuing Road north to a point 0.06 miles south of its intersection with East Homestead Road. (18) County Trunk Highway Town of Highland, Village of Lake Nebagamon, Douglas County: Forty-five miles per hour from its intersection with County Trunk Highway south 7.70 miles. (19) County Trunk Highway Town of Wascott, Douglas County: Thirty-five miles per hour from its intersection with Geshn Road to a point 0.14 miles west of the Lakewood Drive. (20) County Trunk Highway Village of Oliver, Douglas County: Twenty-five miles per hour from its intersection with State Trunk Highway “105” to a point 0.06 miles east of its intersection with 3rd Street. (21) County Trunk Highway Town of Gordon, Douglas County: Twenty-five miles per hour from its intersection with United States Highway “53”east to its intersection with County Trunk Highway Thirty-five miles per hour from its intersection with County Trunk Highway east to a point 0.07 miles east of its intersection with St. Croix Road; and Thirty-five miles per hour from a point 0.17 miles west of its intersection with East Mail Road, to a point 0.20 miles south of its intersection with Lake View Circle. ---PAGE BREAK--- Chapter 5.02, Page 7 (22) Business Highway 53: Village of Solon Springs, Douglas County: Thirty-five miles per hour from point 0.14 miles north of its intersection with Baldwin Avenue, to a point 0.16 miles north of its intersection with County Trunk Highway and Forty-five miles per hour from a point 0.05 miles south of its intersection with Jack Pine Avenue, to a point 0.14 miles north of its intersection with Baldwin Avenue. SECTION II. PENALTY Any person violating any provision of this ordinance may be fined not less than $30.00 nor more than $300.00. SECTION III. EFFECTIVE DATE This ordinance shall take effect upon passage, publication, approval by the State Department of Transportation, and upon the erection of standard signs giving notice thereof.
