It is critical that we respect the landowners who allow us to use their property... please review the information below carefully before trail riding and confirm that you are using open trails. Please note that on certain trails only segments of that trail may be open at this time. We anticipate frequent updates as the clubs report in with trails they have checked. In all areas where the winter recreational trails are closed the clubs are actively working on the getting the trails open. Ice conditions – Wisconsin DNR website provides general and safety information about ice conditions: http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/outdoorrecreation/activities/icesafety.html NW QUADRANT The Crosstown Trail is temporarily closed from the Tower Avenue crossing eastward to the Tri- County Corridor in order to protect the base at the golf course and by the tank farm. Trail 4-41 is still being worked on now that we got parts froze down. Swamp on 4-41 west of Erickson Creek not froze enough to take groomer across. This trail segment (Warming Shack to the Milchesky Road)remains closed at this time. Trail 0 ,28, and 2 from 105 to south superior groomed and in good shape as of Thursday Trail 2 to state line groomed Thursday in very good condition Trail 66 groomed Thursday also in very good condition Trail 43 groomed Thursday to 4 real good shape Trail 4 to 41 groomed Thursday good shape Trail 41 groomed Thursday good shape, the first 1/4 mile in on trail 41 is covered with sawdust to help keep frost in for the logger. No additional grooming is planned at this time, weather is the factor. NE QUADRANT Monday Afternoon, February 15, 2016 Less snow to the NW near Superior. As of Feb 8 snow depth is 14.3 inches near Poplar. Approximately 1 inch of snow over Sunday night in Poplar, Brule and south All funded Brule River Riders Trails are groomed except for Trail 35 (Wild Rivers Trail) which is scheduled for Grooming Tuesday evening. Conditions in most areas area very good with many areas in excellent condition with a few small ice patches under some corners on Trail 27. Possibly the same in other areas. More details: ---PAGE BREAK--- Most trails are very good to excellent condition in most areas. Trail 1: Groomed Monday Trail 2: (Tri-County Corridor) Groomed Sunday/Monday from Superior (Loons Foot Landing) to Brule. Trail 4: Groomed Sunday/Monday from Warming Shelter (at Jct with 41) to Brule. Trail 6: Groomed Monday Trail 24: Groomed Monday Trail 27/27A: Groomed Sunday evening/night. Trail 35: (Wild Rivers Trail): Scheduled to be groomed Tuesday. Trail 235: Not scheduled for grooming this week. Trail 635: Groomed on as needed basis. Groomed Thursday the 11th.Trail 635: Possibly to be groomed Thursday The Brule River Riders has something new for you! We have constructed a new club trail (235) through the Parkland area between trail #2 (Tri-County Corridor) and trail #35 (Wild Rivers Trail). This will connect the TCC east of Superior, past the Checker Board, west of downtown South Range and on the Stone Road to the Wild Rivers Trail. The trail is complete but could use a little more stump grinding, other than that is ready for this snowmobile season. We have also a new club trail (635) between Lake Nebagamon and the Lake Minnesuing county boat landing. It could use a little more stump grinding to get it nice, but will be passable. Sad News: We have lost an easement on property near 18th Street Road, in Hawthorne. We will be back on our old trail to the 18th Street Road. We may be able to go back on the trail around the gravel pit next year. SE QUADRANT, TRAIL 3 and TRAILS 17/217 Trail 217 is in Good condition Trail 17 from Cabin Lane to Fowlers Circle is in Good Condition Trail 17 South of Fowlers Circle is in Good Condition Trail 3 – Groomed on 2/16/16 good shape Jpr – 2/16/16 Grooming 7/27 now. 35 & 5/541 tomorrow. May get 41s also SW QUADRANT Trail 9 south of Moose Junction remains closed due to a serious hazard, it is dangerous and illegal to attempt going around the gate. Trail 935 is also closed at this time. Douglas County - Trail 5 remains in good condition, and groomed. Trail 9 is in fair condition north of Moose Junction, still some water coming up in the swamps, even after the very cold weather last week. It is not groomed Trail 9 south of Moose Junction remains closed due to an extreme hazard, work will be attempted on that trail early this week. Watch for updates. Do not go around the gates on that trail! The forecast doesn't look good for trails later in the week - let's hope they're wrong!! ---PAGE BREAK--- DOUGLAS COUNTY SKI TRAILS Ski Trails were tracked and groomed Wed February 10th.
