Chapter 4.14, Page 32 ORDINANCE #4.14 PROHIBITION OF WEAPONS IN COUNTY BUILDINGS THE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF DOUGLAS DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. DEFINITIONS A. "Law enforcement officer" means a Wisconsin law enforcement officer, as defined in Wisconsin Statutes § 175.46(1)(g) or a federal law enforcement officer, as defined in Wisconsin Statutes § 175.40(7)(a)1. B. “Licensee” means an individual holding a valid license to carry a concealed weapon or an out-of-state licensee under Wisconsin Statutes §175.60. C. “Weapon” means any firearm (including a handgun), an electric weapon, as defined in Wisconsin Statutes, § 941.295(1c)(a), a knife, a as defined under Wisconsin Statutes, § 941.24(1), a billy club or any device designed or used as a weapon and capable of causing great bodily harm or death. SECTION II. POSSESSION OF WEAPONS IN COUNTY BUILDINGS PROHIBITED A. No person shall have in his or her possession, carry or bear any weapon within any county owned or leased buildings. B. Signs, at a minimum 5 inches by 7 inches, which set forth the restriction on weapons shall be posted in a prominent place near all of the entrances to such buildings. SECTION III. APPLICATION OF ORDINANCE Except as otherwise provided, this Ordinance shall not be construed to apply to the following persons while acting in their official capacity and with lawful authority: A. Law enforcement officers; B. Judges, district attorneys, assistant district attorneys and persons permitted to carry a weapon by a judge pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes § 175.60(16)(b)2, if a licensee, while in the Douglas County Courthouse and Government Center. ---PAGE BREAK--- Chapter 4.14, Page 33 SECTION IV. PENALTY Any person who violates any provision of this Ordinance shall be subject to prosecution as applicable under Wisconsin Statutes, including Wisconsin Statutes, § 943.13.
