1 Douglas County Weekly Snowmobile and Winter ATV Trail Report Information provided by Club Members of the Northwest Trails Association and compiled by the Douglas County Forestry Department. UPDATED 02/06/2013 NE Quadrant Tuesday, February 5, 2013 Tuesday evening: General Conditions: The small accumulations are starting to add up. All trails are open with varying snow cover. Conditions vary from fair up to good and some very good. Snow cover is more to the east and north and less to the west and south. To the west the better snowline appears to be closer to Hawthorne and the Junction of Highways 2 and 53. The snow line drops off some just north of the Junction of Trails 27 and 27A but there is reasonably decent snow cover to St Croix Lake. New snow We have received a few small snowfalls which has helped significantly. Monday night about 2 inches around Poplar and Hawthorne and 4 in the Brule area. A little less down south near St Croix Lake. Grooming: We have grooming a limited area and are rapidly gearing up for regular grooming with the exception of Trail 35 north of Trail 4 West and Trail 2 west of the Junction of Highways 2 and 53) Decent riding is available around Brule, Poplar, Hawthorne, Lake Nebagamon and south to St Croix Lake near Solon Springs. Trail # 1: Groomed Tuesday afternoon from the Brule River to Trail #2 Trail # 2: Groomed from Brule to near the Junction of Highways 2 and 53 on Tuesday evening. Most of that section is very good condition but little thinner around Hwy P Poplar area. Condition to the west is fair to poor. We have also completed the new Highway 53 crossing in Hawthorne with three new culverts. It is safer and more convenient for riding and grooming. The new local access trail from Trail 4 to the Lackson Rd is now open. NW Quadrant All trails open but still rough…area has received approximately 3 inches of new snow.
