1 Douglas County Weekly Snowmobile and Winter ATV Trail Report Information provided by Club Members of the Northwest Trails Association and compiled by the Douglas County Forestry Department. UPDATED 12/23/2013 As is typical for this time of year, certain trail segments can be opened and others are not ready yet due to wetland crossings and/or have restrictions due to private land easements. It is critical that we respect the landowners who allow us to use their property... please review the information below carefully before trail riding and confirm that you are using open trails. Please note that on certain trails only segments of that trail may be open at this time. We anticipate frequent updates as the clubs report in with trails they have checked. Thank you. SE Quadrant Trail Update: Corridor 41N remains closed between WRT in Solon Springs to the Pierce road due to poor ice conditions. Corridor 41 is groomed full width first pass between the Tom Green Road and the warming shack, and minimum width first pass between the Tom Green Road and the Pierce Road. Please use the Tom Green Road as an alternate route for Corridor 41 to and from Solon Springs. Trail 5 and the new re-route west of Coyote Drive will open, be signed, and groomed by noon 12/24 We've been grooming daily and all of Jack Pine Rider's trails all have 3-5 inches of fresh snow on a solid base. All trails, including Corridor 35 (WRT from Corridor 4 to the Washburn County Line), trails 7, 27, 27b, 27c, 5, 541, and Corridor 41S from WRT to the Burnett County line will be open, freshly groomed and in very good condition by Christmas Day 12/25 NE Quadrant Updated Thursday Evening. ---PAGE BREAK--- 2 The Brule River Riders area had a significant snowfall earlier this month with several small snowfalls since. The significant snow fall is making it difficult to open trails due to buried downfalls and unfrozen swamps. All Brule River Riders trails are open. Use caution on 6 East which has some trees down. Trails 1, 2, 27/27A & 35 are on high ground and are going to a regular grooming schedule. Lake Route across Lake St Croix is improving. Some tracks on the lake. Grooming: Trail 1: Groomed Brule River to Trail 2 on Wednesday Trail 2: Groomed from Amnicon Falls to Brule on Monday Trail 2: Groomed from Amnicon Falls to Superior Thursday morning (12-19) Trail 4: Groomed to Hathorne – Good early season condition Trail 24: Groomed one pass from 4 to Poplar – One wet area caution advised for ATVS – Good early season condition Trail 6W – Groomed in good early season condition Trail 27/27A: Groomed Thursday (12-19) Some snowmobile tracks on the north end of Lake St Croix. Due to high slush conditions travel on Lake St Croix, use caution about crossing Lake St Croix. Trail 35: Groomed last Monday from North Trail Head to 4 East. Parking lot is plowed at North Trail Head. Trail 35:To be groomed Wednesday. To anyone out riding on woods trails. Please help us out by packing the trails the full width of the trail. Especially in wet areas. Contrary to popular belief, swamps are not frozen. The snow must be well packed to freeze swamps down hard enough to hold up groomers.
