DOUGLAS COUNTY FOREST COMPREHENSIVE LAND-USE PLAN 2006-2020 CHAPTER 4000 Integrated Resource Management Unit Summaries Section Page 4000 4005 Objectives 4000 - 1 4000 - 1 ---PAGE BREAK--- CHAPTER 4000 INTEGRATED RESOURCE MANAGEMENT UNIT SUMMARIES 4000 INTRODUCTION The Douglas County Forest is divided into 27 integrated resource management units (IRMU) and each is considered as its own management unit for purposes of planning, prescription, implementation, monitoring, and recording of DCFD operations (see Appendix Q-II). These IRMU’s are further divided into forest compartments (see Appendix R-II) averaging approximately 10 compartments per IRMU (ranging from 2 to 20). These compartments are the DCFD’s primary land-management unit for silvicultural activities. Past management of the Forest has included a DCFD staff member who manages and coordinates activities for a range of assigned IRMU’s. These assigned areas of responsibility have been directly related to silvicultural operations and harvest regulation. This management system continues to be used to manage the Forest with available DCFD staff. Over the next 15 years, this system will be examined continually and may be reevaluated and revised to more efficiently and effectively manage the County Forest on a consistent and sustainable basis. 4005 OBJECTIVES To develop an individual plan for each IRMU that will achieve the objectives set forth in this Plan to the greatest extent possible, consistent with program priorities and DCFD direction. Summaries for all 27 units are planned for completion by the end of 2009 for inclusion as an amendment to this chapter.
