1 Douglas County Weekly Snowmobile and Winter ATV Trail Report Information provided by Club Members of the Northwest Trails Association and compiled by the Douglas County Forestry Department. UPDATED 01/24/2014 SE Quadrant 01/22/14 WRT from #4 to co. line groomed on Sun. 7/27 done on Mon. 5/541 done on Tue. 41s to Burnett co. line & WRT south to Washburn co. line done Wednesday. 41n to warming shack will do Thur. evening. Also will groom back on 41n Sat. for Discover Wisconsin filming. NE Quadrant Updated 11:00 am Tuesday Morning, January 20 CONDITIONS We have a minimum of a foot and a half or more snow on the ground with another few inches of fluff overnight on Sunday night Most trails are in very good condition to excellent condition. Grooming: The short version - Everything has been groomed since Sunday afternoon January 20th except: Trail 35 (Wild Rivers Trail) Scheduled for Wednesday. Trail 1: Groomed Monday Trail 2: Amnicon Falls to Brule, groomed Monday Trail 2: Amnicon Falls to Superior, groomed late Sunday evening. Trail 4: Hawthorne to the warming shelter at the Jct of 4 & 41 groomed Sunday evening. Trail 4: Hawthorne to 6 West (Big Rock Corner) groomed early Monday morning. ---PAGE BREAK--- 2 Trail 4: Brule to 6 West, (Big Rock Corner) groomed Tuesday morning. (Almost done at 11 am) Trail 6 East: Groomed Tuesday morning. Trail 6 West: Groomed early Monday morning. Trail 24: Groomed early Monday morning. Trail 27/27A: Brule to St Croix Lake groomed overnight Sunday Night. Trail 27A: Logging operations are still in progress north of Rifle Range Road. Trail 35 (Wild Rivers) scheduled for grooming Wednesday. Second round grooming for the week will probably be reduced to high traffic - problem areas. Mark your calendars for our cookout Saturday, February 15 at our Warming Shelter at the Jct of Trails 4 & 41 west of Hawthorne. The Cookout runs from 10 am to 2 pm and the 50/50 Raffle is at 2 pm Stop and check out our warming shelter a with wood stove, gas grill, porta potty and lights. We left a light on for you. NW Quadrant 01/24/14 All trails in this quadrant south of Hwy 105 have been double groomed this week and are in very good to excellent condition. Grooming north of 105 has been suspended due to the groomer breaking down. Repairs scheduled to take place this weekend and then grooming returning early next week. Trails reported to be in good condition at this time. SW Quadrant 01/20/14 > Trails maintained and groomed by Cozy Corner Trails are in excellent condition - Trails 5, 5A, 930, 9 and 925 in Douglas County will be groomed early this week and again at the end of the week. The Empire Road (a portion of Trail 9) is plowed down pretty far, but should get better as more snow falls. > > Trails 925, 151 and 118 in Burnett County will be groomed early in the week and later in the week, and are in excellent condition. > > Please stay on the trails - much of the trail system is on private land, and we appreciate the easements granted by these generous landowners. It only takes on person to have the entire trail system shut down. Please be respectful!! ---PAGE BREAK--- 3 Trail 3 01/22/14 Trail 3 grooming is on going twice a week. Trails are in very good to excellent condition. Just a word of caution due to the unstable ice conditions and the hundreds of exposed stumps on the Minong Flowage ,For your safety and the safety of the Fire-Rescue Personal who are sent out to retrieve you, Please stay off !
