Candidate Profile The Maintenance Worker II-Streets & Alleys for the City of Douglas will be a responsible individual who will be performing a variety of skilled work in the operation and maintenance of equipment This candidate will work under the supervision of the Streets and Alleys Supervisor in Public Works. Position Description Overview Our new Maintenance Worker II– Streets & Alleys will be re-sponsible for operating and maintaining a refuse collection truck. Responsibilities include: • Grades streets in preparation for paving; blades and repairs alleys; operates backhoe to dig holes in street, digs ditches and backfills areas; drives tractor-mower and weed eater to cut grass on roadsides; cleans streets and gutters by operating a street sweeper. • Perform daily vehicle pre- and post-work inspections to ensure equipment is in good working order, reporting any issues to the supervisor. • Performs manual labor work in street and alley maintenance related to hot and cold mix asphalt, patching, paving, preparation of site for new curb and gutter, removal of existing curb, gutter and sidewalks. • Drives a truck hauling sand, gravel or other materials from one location to another. • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including traffic laws . • Cleans refuse from public areas and gutters; cleans storm drains; paints curbs, crosswalks, parking lots; performs other manual street maintenance activity. • Monitor equipment for any mechanical issues, perform basic troubleshooting, and report needed repairs. Education and Experience Minimum of 2 year experience operating heavy vehicles. This position will be outside work with occasional heavy lifting. High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Wyoming Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class A. Compensation/Benefits The Maintenance Worker II- Streets & Alleys position will have a minimum hourly salary of $24.43. Qualifications and experience will be evaluated.
