Maintenance Worker I- Seasonal Workers Position Specification Rev. 3.16.2026 Employment Status: Full-Time Temporary/Seasonal Position Experience Required: This is an entry-level position class for persons with the necessary skills/abilities outlined. Department: Public Works & Parks and Recreation Direct Supervisor: Parks and Recreation Director, Streets, Alleys & Sanitation Supervisor, Utility Maintenance Supervisor Supervisory Responsibility: None. Special Conditions of Work: Outdoor work. Must be able to work under little to no supervision after initial training. Certifications: Valid Wyoming Driver's License, Class C. General Description: Performs a variety of tasks associated with maintenance of grounds of city parks, public areas, and recreational areas. Major Tasks: Mows and trims grass on lawn areas in parks, parkways and other outdoor areas using riding and push mowers and weed trimmers. Manually picks up debris in outdoor areas for disposal, empties trash receptacles and dog pots. Pulls and cuts weeds in outdoor areas, plant and water flowers, trees, and bushes. Receives training in the trimming and care of trees, bushes, and plants. Builds, paints, and seals signs; installs as directed. Receives training in painting curbs, fire hydrants and other city property. Receives training in maintenance of sprinkler systems; replaces parts as necessary. Assists with various construction or repair projects (tennis courts, pool, etc. Cleans and winterizes public restrooms; maintains paper and cleaning supplies. Performs building maintenance tasks on public works buildings, including cleaning restrooms, etc. ---PAGE BREAK--- HOME OF THE JACKALOPE. Minor Tasks: Performs standardized preventive maintenance work and minor mechanical repair work on small power equipment, sprinkler system; cleans tools. Performs repair and maintenance on picnic tables, barbecue pits, benches, garbage containers, signs, fences. Receives training in the application of fertilizers; applies same to city property as instructed. Assists other divisions as necessary. Performs related duties as required. Knowledge Areas: Knowledge of fundamentals of building and grounds maintenance and daily maintenance of equipment used, knowledge of departmental safety practices. Skill/Ability Areas: Skill in maintenance of grounds and daily maintenance of equipment used; ability to follow written and verbal instructions; ability to ensure compliance with and follow standard safety practices and procedures; ability to operate equipment of work unit; ability to perform moderately strenuous physical labor.
