OUR CITY Douglas Wyoming Mission: To serve our community with opportunities that create a better way of life. ---PAGE BREAK--- Candidate Profile The Community Services Officer for the City of Douglas Police Department will be a responsible individual who possesses the knowledge and experience with interacting professionally with the public. This candidate will work under the supervision of the Lieutenant for the Police Department. Position Description Overview Our new Community Services Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks including enforcing the animal control ordinances of the City and performs community service duties involved in non-enforcement police operations. Re- sponsibilities include but are not limited to: Enforces animal control ordinances; issuing citations or warnings as appropriate, notifies owners of impound- ment of animals; follows up on compliance of ordi- nances. Answers calls involving citizen complaints regarding violations of animal control ordinances; picks up in- jured, dead or unwanted animals; traps wild and do- mestic animals as necessary. Records information on a daily and basis on a variety of forms, logs reports and records concerning activities of the work unit, including but not limited to, daily log sheets, time records pick up logs, complaint forms, ticket records and reports. Performs V.I.N. inspections, vacation house checks, extra patrols as required. Handles found property complaints; enters and logs found property into appropriate police holding facility or disposes of property according to department proce- dures. Picks up pawn tickets from local shops. Appears in court and testifies on citations issued for violations of applicable ordinances. Composes correspondence in response to inquiries or requests for services; submits same to supervisor for review. Education and Experience This is an entry-level position. This position is a temporary position. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Valid Class C Wyoming Drivers’ License.
