OUR CITY Douglas Wyoming Mission: To serve our community with opportunities that create a better way of life. ---PAGE BREAK--- Candidate Profile The Landfill Operator for the City of Douglas will be a responsible individual who possesses the knowledge and skills to operate heavy equipment and the ability to perform moderately heavy manual tasks. They should possess knowledge of proper safety procedures related to equipment operation and preventative maintenance as well as knowledge of solid waste regulations. This candidate will work under the supervision of the Landfill Supervisor in an outdoor setting. Position Description Overview Our new Landfill Operator will be responsible perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work associated with dai- ly maintenance of the City Landfill. Responsibilities in- clude: • Operates various have equipment to push similar types of refuse into certain areas as designated to compact daily and cover with dirt; • Operate a backhoe, loader and track loader to dig pits for specific refuse. • Operate machinery to grade road surfaces and fire lanes in and around the landfill. • Perform construction maintenance including but not limited to screen and sign welding. • Operate over the road truck and sanitation truck off site, hauling MSW and compost, recycling equipment. • Able to perform construction maintenance, screen and sign welding. • Cleans outdoor areas of debris, clears ditches. • Performs preventive maintenance and cleaning tasks on heavy equipment operated and all landfill buildings and scale equipment. • Cleans up indoor work area. • Directs individuals to dumping areas; directs the dump- ing of City and County refuse according to directives. • Assists in extinguishing fires at landfill. • Monitors sample wells for environmental quality regula- tions; keeps records as necessary. • Performs a variety of tasks assisting with street and alley repair and maintenance by operating appropriate equipment. Education and Experience Two years of experience related to heavy equip- ment operation and maintenance. Other training and experience will be evaluated for relevance to assignment in this position.
