They will be primarily responsible for greeting customers, weighing solid waste and charging customers for refuse. This candidate will work under the supervision of the Landfill Supervisor under little supervision. Position Description Overview Our new Landfill Attendant will be responsible for per- forming inspections of refuse entering the landfill, weighing solid waste, collecting charges and directing customer into the proper point of unloading. Responsibilities include: · Weighs all vehicles entering and exiting the landfill; charge entering vehicles according to load; make change and issue receipts for money collected. Logs each vehicle and load coming into the landfill by size and type. · Ensures that all refuse entering the landfill is permissi- ble; sort through refuse for hazardous and impermissi- ble items and block such items from entering the facili- ty. · Directs vehicles entering landfill to appropriate dump- ing areas within the facility boundaries. · Counts and balances all money received; prepare mon- ey, tickets, and cash receipts for remittance to the Fi- nance Department. · Answers telephone calls and assists the public; provide information on City policies and procedures upon re- quest; receive and refer requests for information to ap- propriate staff members. · Performs a variety of general clerical work including the maintenance of accurate and detailed records pertain- ing to transactions. Education and Experience This is an entry-level part time position, expected to work approximately 27 hours per week. Basic knowledge of office procedures and basic math is preferred. Basic computer knowledge and ability to lift up to 40 pounds required.
