OUR CITY Douglas Wyoming Mission: To serve our community with opportunities that create a better way of life. ---PAGE BREAK--- Candidate Profile The Cemetery Sexton for the City of Douglas will be a responsible individual who possesses the knowledge and experience with groundskeeping and/or cemetery maintenance. They should possess knowledge of and prior experience supervising others and some office experience. This candidate will work under the supervision of the Superintendent of Parks, Rec and Cemetery in an outdoor setting. Position Description Overview Our new Cemetery Sexton will be responsible for perform- ing supervisory and administrative work in addition to maintain the City’s Cemetery. Responsibilities include: Supervises the maintenance of cemetery grounds and help maintain equipment and facilities and other tasks relating to overall management and maintenance of the cemetery. Meets with citizens and arranges the sale of burial plots. Collect and record burial information provided by ei- ther family or friends with the name of the deceased, date of birth, date of death, grave location and any addi- tional pertinent information. Provide an understanding and caring environment for all visitors with questions, concerns or complaints. Responsible for making all preparations for gravesite services and burial. Directs and/or assists their crew in digging all of graves using a backhoe; sets up lowering mechanism; covers casket and replaces sod. Oversees the preparation of gravesites for burials and fill-ins after services. Train, schedule, supervise and evaluate employees and provide safety training, enforce safety policies and pro- vide necessary personal protective equipment. Directs and/or assists crew in grave and graveyard maintenance and repair. Coordinates with City Clerk to update and maintain central management system recording keeping soft- ware. Identify and execute the ordering, purchasing and pay- ment process of all essential items and tasks. Education and Experience Two to three years groundskeeping and/or ceme- tery maintenance experience. Supervisory and office experience preferred.
