Chapter 2.3, Page 5 2.3 AUTHORITY OF COUNTY CHAIRPERSON TO SIGN CONTRACTS THE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF DOUGLAS DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. PURPOSE The purpose of this ordinance is to designate who may sign contracts on behalf of Douglas County, where such authority is not otherwise designated by state statute or county ordinance, and further, to effectuate the provisions of Wisconsin Statutes 59.05(1). SECTION II. AUTHORITY A. The chairperson, or vice-chairperson in the absence of the chairperson, shall countersign all ordinances passed by the Douglas County Board of Supervisors. B. The county chairperson, or vice-chairperson in the absence of the chairperson, shall sign contracts in order to transact all necessary board business with local and county officers and further, to sign contracts in order to expedite all measures resolved upon by the County Board or its standing committees. C. The chairpersons of all standing committees of the Douglas County Board of Supervisors shall sign any applicable contract relating to that standing committee before it is signed by the county chairperson. The signature of the standing committee chairperson shall serve to designate to the county chairperson that the terms and conditions of said contract are in a form which that respective standing committee has approved. SECTION III. EFFECTIVE DATE This ordinance shall be in full force and effect on passage and publication. Approved August 21, 1986
