DOUGLAS COUNTY MULTIMODAL TRANSPORTATION CENTER The Transportation Center is located on a 15.18-acre site behind the Douglas County Courthouse. The address is 8800 Dorris Road, Douglasville, GA 30134. The Transportation Center was dedicated May 3, 2003. Its interior and exterior design is similar to the Courthouse. The Transportation Center was designed and built to aid Douglas County’s efforts to improve mobility for local residents. Douglas County is working to provide a “menu” of transportation options, including commuter vanpools, Xpress bus, carpools, travel vouchers for senior adults and disabled individuals and other services including bus service within Douglas County in 2019. The Transportation Center serves as the base of operation for these efforts. Since 1986, Connect Douglas, formerly known as Rideshare, has been offering transportation options and participating in transit and commute option planning at the local, regional, state and national levels. Connect Douglas occupies the Transportation Center and is responsible for its day-to-day operation. The Transportation Center’s operating hours are 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Almost 1,000 commuters meet their vanpools, carpools and Xpress buses at the Transportation Center each day. The Xpress bus service to downtown Atlanta and midtown Atlanta is operated by the Georgia State Roads and Tollway Authority (SRTA). ---PAGE BREAK--- The Transportation Center campus includes a 6,500 square foot customer service/administration building for Rideshare, 650 parking spaces for commuters and a covered loading platform for the express bus service. The bus platform is almost as long as a football field. The Transportation Center represents an investment of about $5 million. A 6,000 square foot, $1.5 million expansion of the Transportation Center will be completed in early 2020. Funding for the Transportation Center came from the following sources: 1. The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) 2. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) 3. The Douglas County Board of Commissioners. How can I get more information? 1.
