TRANSIT COORDINATOR DAWSON COUNTY SENIOR SERVICES Full-Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for all facets of transportation operations; these duties include performing administrative duties, dispatching, DOT compliance, and preventative maintenance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Answer incoming calls for the Dawson County Transit Coordinates drivers for public transportation and senior rides Make daily routes for transportation, dispatch public transportation, and input rider information into Mobility computer program Collect and record daily fare box revenue Reconcile Trips Daily in DHS TRIP$ and QRYDE systems Assists with compiling end of the month reports for DHS and DOT Input number of rides for each client on DHS logs Input number of rides per bus, purpose of ride, fare box revenue for each bus, and breakdown of public and senior rides per bus Assists with compiling mileage and fuel tickets for all vehicles Assists with coordinating driver training Producing reports and data relative to the position Perform duties of Transit Driver as needed. Working knowledge and current certification of first-aid, CPR and AED. SKILLED IN: Interpersonal relations to meet the standards of customer services and to promote and support a positive work environment. Driving a transit bus and in operating a wheelchair lift. Conducting preventive maintenance checks for vehicles. Verbal and written communication, organization and reporting; to maintain records, follow dispatching procedures and convey operating updates to customers and co-workers. ABILITY TO: Read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations. Perform some heavy lifting. Tell time and keep a timely schedule. Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing. Work and maintain professional composure while under stress and pressure. GUIDELINES Guidelines include state and federal laws, county ordinances, and department policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application. ADA MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Scope of Performance: The purpose of this position is to provide transportation services to Dawson County citizens. Successful performance helps ensures successful transit services. Guidelines include Area Agency on Aging guidelines, federal Older Americans Act (Title III) guidelines, medical care guidelines and county policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application. Physical Ability: Must be physically able to assist passengers with boarding and de-boarding transit buses, operating the disabled passenger accessibility lift, properly securing disabled passengers, properly operating all transit bus controls and operating devices. This position requires: walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, fingering, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to use body members to work, move, or carry objects or materials; must be able to lift light and heavy objects, up to 20 pounds regularly and exert up to 70 pounds of force occasionally; must be able to sit for an extended length of time. ---PAGE BREAK--- 3 Environmental Factors: The work is typically performed in an office; on occasion may be performed in a transit bus. The employee may be exposed to dust, fumes, exhaust, various noise levels, various temperatures, chemicals, and contagious or infectious diseases for an extended length of time as well as in various outdoor weather conditions as required. SUPERVISORY/ MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBLITY The Transit Manager assigns work in terms of general instructions. Completed work is spot-checked for compliance with instructions and procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS Applicant must be 18 years of age or older. Applicant must have ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations, to count fares box money and submit a daily fare box report. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, plus two years of transportation experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully understand and perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Completion of the Substance Abuse Management Workshop and Reasonable Suspicion Training as required by the D.O.T. Applicant must pass GDOT Pass Training. Applicant must have possession a driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia and maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Applicant must pass a background check and drug screening.
