COMMUNITY SERVICE COORDINATOR DAWSON COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS Part-Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for driving a bus to transport court ordered community service workers throughout Dawson County to clean roadways. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Operates a 10 to 14 passenger transit bus to transport community service workers, of all ages and abilities, to and from various locations throughout the county. Follows instructions provided Operations Manager/PW Director. Ensures proper safety markers are placing in areas of community service workers. Ensures community services workers are working while under his/her supervision, reporting any situations to the Operations Manager/PW Director. Maintains trip record, mileage and preventive maintenance logs; prepares reports to the Public Works Director. Performs weekly cleaning of vehicle to Dawson County standards. Complies with all mandated drug testing procedures and policies. Performs other related duties as assigned. Fills in as a Transfer Station Attendant as needed. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITY KNOWLEDGE OF: Dawson County policies and procedures. State and County traffic and safety rules and regulations. Geography and road system of Dawson County. SKILL IN: Interpersonal relations to meet the standards of customer services and to promote and support a positive work environment. Driving a transit bus. Conducting preventive maintenance checks for vehicles. Written and oral communication and organization to maintain records. Follow dispatching procedures and convey operating updates to customers and co-workers. Inspect, maintain and operate hand tools, maintenance equipment, and transit bus. ADA MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Scope of Performance: The purpose of this position is to provide transportation and supervisory services to court ordered community service workers. Physical Ability: T h e w o r k i s t y p i c a l l y p e r f o r m e d w h i l e s i t t i n g , s t a n d i n g , w a l k i n g , r e a c h i n g , b e n d i n g , c r o u c h i n g , o r s t o o p i n g . The employee is frequently required to lift light up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 80 pounds occasionally. The work involves use and inspection of equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity and strength to feel, maintain or operate objects, tools or controls with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus with or without corrective lenses Environmental Factors: The work is typically performed in a transit bus and ou t d o o r s . T h e e m p l o y e e m a y b e e x p o s e d t o n o i s e , dust, dirt, grease, and machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals, and occasional inclement weather. The work requires the use of protective devices such as mask, goggles or gloves. SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY The Transfer Station Supervisor assigns work in terms of specific instructions. The work is reviewed for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS Applicant must have ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculation at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school equivalent. Applicant must have sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Applicant must have possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia and have no adverse driving record or felony conviction.
