Dawson County Government leadership invited the community to contribute to the survey to gauge public opinion about housing development within the county. The survey consisted of 11 questions, and a total of 1,354 citizens completed it. The survey contained simple questions with multiple choice answers to turn responses into easily measurable data. The survey did not contain an open comment field as individual messages could not be transferred into quantifiable data. These survey results have helped inform county leadership about residents’ top concerns and desires in regards to housing development. Dawson County was established in 1857 and is located approximately 40 miles northeast of Atlanta, along the State Route 400 corridor. The county spans from the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains down to the shores of Lake Lanier. Most of the county remains rural and agricultural, balanced with growing business off of the 400 Corridor.
