DAWSON COUNTY GOVERNMENT INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY Job Title: Public Relations Internship Division: Public Relations Department: Administration Salary: $15.00 Hourly Status: Temporary/Hourly/Non-Exempt APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED UNTIL March 6, 2026 Job Summary: Learn from the Dawson County Public Relations (PR) Specialist and get a glimpse into the world of local government: 1. Primary focus: complete a video project, introducing County departments and commissions/boards. The intern will interview County staff from each department, from leadership to front-line workers, with the PR Specialist. Capture b-roll footage of the respective facility/office of the interviewees. The primary audience is the citizens of the County, to illustrate how each department serves the people. The videos will be shared on social media and a playlist on the County’s YouTube channel with a dedicated intern credit line per video. 2. The PR intern will gain experience in hands-on video shooting and editing, interviewing, and county government functions. The intern will also shadow the Dawson County PR Specialist to gain practical experience of the ins and outs of county government communications. 3. Flexible hours: the internship has a maximum of 200 hours to be completed between May and September; hours per week TBD based upon student availability. 4. Video creation experience needed; entry level accepted. 5. Eligible for college credits (student can request this from their university). Job Requirements: Applicant must be an undergraduate student, graduate student, or recent college graduate (if you graduated in or after May 2025).
