Dallas County Election Roles Poll Worker: Work in a team on election day to check in voters, register voters, & assist as needed in the voting process: Attend mandatory 3-hour training prior to election day Work at a precinct on election day from 6 AM until closing of polls (approx. 8:30 PM) Use computers to verify voters Issue ballots Instruct voters on how to use voting equipment Open & close the polls (approx. 15-hour day) Pay: $13/hr plus mileage for training and election day Absentee Board: Work in a team to count and open ballot envelopes & review defective or provisional ballots (no interaction with the public & no computers): Use hands for extended periods of time to open envelopes Sit for long periods of time, the potential for 12-hour day Available to potentially work the day before the election, day of election, & Monday following election in the Auditor’s office (Adel) Pay: $13/hr plus mileage Healthcare Facility Team: Travel to healthcare facilities with a small team to vote individuals who are not able to attend the polls on Election Day: Assist voters of all abilities Availability to make multiple trips on multiple days to facilities throughout Dallas County prior to election day Must meet at Auditor’s office (Adel) and travel together Pay: $13/hr plus mileage ---PAGE BREAK--- Dallas County Election Roles Setup/Teardown Crew: Assist with the setup and teardown of county polling places (laptops & election equipment): Availability starting at 8 am the day before & the day after the election to meet your assigned crew at Auditor’s office working to complete all setup/teardown of assigned polling locations throughout the County Must be able to lift 50 lbs Ability to attend training the week before the election Pay: $15/hour (delivery trucks provided) Election Night Results Runner: Assigned one polling location on election day, must arrive there by 7:45 PM and obtain a sealed results envelope from the polling location chair (person in charge) and drive it to the Auditor’s office in Adel Pay: flat fee of $25 plus mileage Sign up at www.dallascountyiowa.gov by going to Volunteer With Us on the Elections page.
