1 DALLAS COUNTY, IOWA CHAPTER 11 TITLE II - TRANSPORTATION CHAPTER 11 RURAL ADDRESSING SYSTEM 11.01 Purpose 11.02 Definitions 11.04 Official E911 Rural Address Map 11.03 Addressing System 11.05 Revisions 11.01 PURPOSE. This ordinance mandates the use of a uniform rural address system for residents of Dallas County in order to promote the convenience, safety and general welfare of those residents. 11.02 DEFINITIONS. Unless otherwise expressly stated or the context clearly indicates a different intention, the following terms shall, for the purposes of this chapter, have the following meanings: 1. "Enhanced 911 Emergency Telephone Service" and derivatives thereof are defined to be in conformity with the provisions of Chapters 34A and 34A.3 of the Code of Iowa (as may be amended hereafter). 2. "Joint 911 Service Board" and derivatives thereof are defined to be in conformity with the provisions set out in Chapter 34A.3 of the Code of Iowa (as may be amended hereafter). 3. "Rural Addressing System" and derivatives thereof mean the manner in which rural roads, highways, streets and properties in the County are to be assigned addresses for use only in conjunction with the E911 service which is designed to route an incoming 911 call to a public safety answering point and automatically display the name, address and telephone number of an incoming 911 call. 11.03 ADDRESSING SYSTEM. The Board shall cause to have installed signs for every person owning, controlling, occupying or using any house, store, storeroom or building situated on a premise, fronting any public way. The assigned number will be plotted by GPS at the center of the primary entrance of the premises and will not approve multiple addresses to premises. 11.04 OFFICIAL E911 RURAL ADDRESS MAP. Roads, highways and streets within the areas designated as rural county are hereby assigned addresses for use only in conjunction with the Enhanced 911 Emergency Telephone Service as shown in the Official E911 CHAPTER 11 DALLAS COUNTY, IOWA Rural Address Map hereby adopted by reference and declared to be ---PAGE BREAK--- 2 part of this chapter. The Official E911 Rural Address Map shall be identified by the signatures of the Board of Supervisors, a representative of the Joint 911 Service Board, and the Dallas County Planning and Zoning Administrator, and shall bear the County seal and shall be located in the 911 Coordinator's office. 11.05 REVISIONS. In the event that amendments, additions or changes in the map are necessary, such amendments, additions or changes shall be entered on the Official E911 Rural Address Map after the alteration has been approved by the Board of Supervisors. The corresponding entry to the map shall include the following: "On (Date) , by official action of the Dallas County Board of Supervisors, the following changes were made in the Official E911 Rural Address Map: (Description)." Such entry shall be signed by the Chairperson of the Board of Supervisors and attested to by the County Auditor.
