100-005 County Patch Policy Effective Date: 9/23/09 Reference: Next Review: Modified Date: CLASSIFICATION: POLICY STATEMENT Issued By: Scott Roman, Fire Coordinator Preface: Cortland County is the home of 12 fire departments and 2 ambulance squads. The County’s Fire and Emergency Medical Services are responsible for covering 499.65 square miles with a population of approximately 50,000 residents. To show our pride and common thread as emergency responders in Cortland County we have developed a County uniform patch. Patch designed by retired City of Cortland Firefighter Duke Glover. Purpose: The intent of this policy is to establish a general order regarding how the Cortland County Patch may be utilized. Policy: 1. Any fire department wishing to display the County Patch on their dress uniforms may do so by contacting the Fire Coordinator’s Office. 2. Fire Departments and Ambulance Squads requesting a patch must strictly adhere to this guideline. 3. The County Patch shall be affixed to the right shoulder in lieu of an American flag patch of the fire department’s dress uniform. 4. Patches will not be affixed to coats, job shirts or personal apparel. 5. The intent of this program is to identify that each department is a member of the Cortland County Fire and Emergency Medical Services to show our commitment to each other and the County we live in. 6. The Fire Coordinator does reserve the right to distribute patches as he / she sees fit with the guiding principle of preserving the rich history and integrity of the Cortland County Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
